Mippietown Conn June 26 The inauguration of President Raymond of Wesleyan University occurred this afternoon on the platform with Wesleyan officials and invited dignitaries Bishop Foss offered prayer Judge Reynolds spoke praising the selection and alumni commendation. The Rev James M Mimn spoke for the alumni noting Wesleyan men across society and stressing Christian education. Acting President Van Vieck welcomed the new head with faculty cooperation and the charter and keys were presented. Raymond delivered an address on The Process of Education emphasizing personality and the development of a well rounded man.
A triple freight train collision near Latrobe Pennsylvania killed an estimated twenty five to thirty people. Locomotive and several cars plunged into a creek and burned. at least twelve bodies recovered by nightfall with many injuries reported. Names of the dead and injured include Grorak CorGat Jersey City Hues Keviry Philadelphia Joan OrrrcHvow Homestead and Benjamin Emmerich among others.
Dr McDow testified he shot Captain Dawson after an exchange in which Dawson accused him of improper attentions to a French maid. He described Dawson striking him with a cane and repeated that he killed in self defense. He dragged and attempted to conceal the body before surrendering to police.
The wedding of John Lustis Burgess of Oliver Ditson & Co and Miss Gertrude Hamlin Brookhouse took place yesterday morning at King's Chapel with Rev J J Burgess officiating. The Lawrence Street Congregational Church hosted the wedding of Grace L Truell to George H Eaton with a large turnout. The couple will reside at 8 Jackson terrace Lawrence after a wedding trip. attendants included Grace Towne Jessie White and John P Lyons.

Simon Cameron died at 8 PM after a brief decline. Att orney General MacVeagh and others at his bedside. Born in Lancaster on March 8 1799, he rose from printer to banker and railroad builder and served as U S Senator and Secretary of War. He led Pennsylvania politics, shaped Civil War policy, and later split time between Harrisburg and his Donegal farm.
George Loring Brown eminent landscape painter died at 52 Mountain Avenue Malden Tuesday evening from a shock of apoplexy at age 75. Born February 2 1814 in Boston he studied at Franklin school won a silver medal and aged 12 apprenticed to a wood engraver. He toured Europe assisted by Cushman and Cheeney and studied under Washington Allston. He spent twenty years abroad returning in 1860 with high reputation. notable works include The Bay of New York 1860 given to the Prince of Wales and many paintings in Malden Public Library. He leaves a widow and one daughter married to I M Fogarty postmaster at Brookline. Funeral Friday at 3 PM burial private.
