Major-General William A. Bancroft, retired, named grand marshal of the Big Hooker Parade. A Harvard alumnus and former Cambridge mayor, he led a Harvard crew and served in the Spanish American War. He now presides over the Boston Elevated Railway and Influences local education and infrastructure.

Troop Movements Fill City For Parade At Hotel Brunswick

Early afternoon reg isterations occurred at the Hotel Brunswick as visiting civic leaders secured lodging. Troops arriving include the Vermont cavalry from Fort Ethan Allen and infantry from Plattsburg, with more units en route. The city streets and Post Office Square bloom with bunting and banners despite heavy rain, as preparations for the parade and decorations proceed.

Luncheon Planned for Marching Host in State Parade

A large force of workers last night prepared fresh rations for the marching parade. The lunch for the host will cost the State between 433500 and 4000 dollars, with 2000 disabled veterans to receive lunch in Postoffice square.

Twenty two Mexican War Veterans Parade in Hooker Today

Twenty two veterans born 1846 to 176 will ride in the Hooker parade led by General Samuel E. Chamberlain or Captain George W. Murch. The group, in drags with Mexican hats and flags, includes veterans from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Virginia and Missouri, aged 73 to 81, with their names, ages, units and residences listed. The city hall is draped in red white and blue with a Welcome sign.
