Shattuck Held on $5000 Bond in Fatal Assault Case

Edward Shattuck was held in $5000 bail on a charge of assaulting William Atkins, who died last night after a confrontation with Shattuck and Atkins on Darling and Summer streets in Marblehead. Hearing set for Saturday. Shattuck jailed in Salem. Atkins sought to reunite with his wife amid alleged infidelity claims. Atkins had a strong local reputation. Shattuck is known in Marblehead and Lynn for past liquor violations.

TWO ARE MISSING IN CAMBRIDGE POLICE SEARCH FOR FOWLERS WIFE

Cambridge police report the disappearance of Mrs Harry Fowler of Revere from the Elmwood street home with her husband. She left with two young children and was last seen boarding with the Fowlers alongside Charles L Roy King a crippled man about 50 with a dark mustache. King and wife had been guests for months. Mrs Fowler took belongings and went to her parents after June 15 without warning.

Arrests in local thefts and bicycle larceny

John Mikasch was arrested for breaking and entering the Arthur and Boardman store and stealing 20 dollars and trousers. Inspector Glidden and Officer Tryder also arrested John Dwyer, 18, of 461 West Sumner Street East Boston, for allegedly stealing a bicycle. Dwyer was found pawning the bike on Cross Street at a price far below value.

Knights of Malta Parade Granted by Somerville Aldermen

The Somerville Aldermen approved a parade permit for the Knights of Malta to march in certain streets next Sunday afternoon. Contracts awarded include Lord Brothers for Engine 4’s house repairs at 5100, A B Franklin for heating apparatus at 172, Charles A Kelly for Hampton street sewer at 1074, and J J Dory for Broadway sewer at 247.40.

Brooklyn Women Reform Dress With Common Sense Uniforms

The Brooklyn Health Culture Club, formed three weeks ago with six charter members, aims to promote hygienic living and sensible dress. By next October rainy day it expects 159 members, led by president E Christine Lumsden and vice president Mrs Edward Arthur Dodge, with charter members including Cornelia Hood and Mrs Wilson. Members pledge to wear knee clearing skirts and bloomers in wet weather, paired with a light outer layer.

Newton School Board Acts on Finance Report and Cuts

Newton finance committee told the school board the city government refused an additional appropriation. Changes included lower salaries, one unassigned teacher instead of two, suspension of the high school commercial course, ending the kindergarten system, and removing a teacher from Wade Hyde Claflin and Adams Schools. Mt Josephs Academy Brighton Commencement Held in Convent Hall

The eleventh annual commencement of Mt Josephs Academy in Brighton was held in the convent hall at 3 30. Miss Mary T Murray of Philadelphia and Miss Alice V Reardon of Alliston received diplomas and medals of excellence. Agnes T Downing won the gold medal for Christian doctrine. Alice Reardon earned gold medals for department, general excellence and music. Mary T Murray won the gold for application and first prize for composition racing other awards to Mary Reilly and Alice Elvin. A list of invited guests included Monsignor Maginnis and several priests from Roxbury Haverhill and other towns.

Quincy High School Graduation Exercises Held

The annual Quincy High School graduation exercises were held in High School Hall with large attendance and music. Mary Eva Thayer Pitts gave the saluta tory “America's Debt to Women” and Mary Ella Garrity delivered the valedictory “Four Years at the Quincy High School” followed by an address titled “Success in Life and Good Citizenship” by Colonel Henry A. Thomas. Diplomas were presented to 55 graduates by Hon. Charles H. Porter, chairman of the school board.

Caucus Reform Committee Organizes and Schedules Hearings

A special committee appointed by Speaker Meyer held a meeting at the Norfolk House and organized with Harwood of Newton as chairman Creed of South Boston as clerk and Crohan as assistant clerk. The panel plans hearings at the State House next Wednesday with James Keenan to present caucus reform suggestions and will tour wards to hear leaders from both parties while deciding voter party allegiance by oath for one year.

Cloelia steam yacht launched by moonlight near Boston

The 68 foot 6 inch steam yacht Cloelia, built in Dorchester by Edward S. Clark Machine Co, slid into the water after a private launch that drew 100 onlookers. Mrs. H F Ross cracked a champagne bottle as the bow touched the water, with guests including Henry F. Ross and Oliver Clark in attendance.

Shanty Arson Suspects Nabbed by Division 1 Officers

Frank Signorivello aged 25 of 18 Webster Avenue and Antonio Segara 25 of Newark New Jersey were arrested on June 20 in Stoneham for setting fire to a shanty occupied by about 100 Italians. They saturated the structure with oil and ignited it as revenge. No injuries occurred. Police will bring the pair to Stoneham District Court for trial.

Track officials suspend racers for unsanctioned events

The T A weekly bulletin reports suspensions for unsanctioned racing. G L Brewster and F H Shumway of Willimantic Conn receive 30 day bans from June 6. Wilbur D Pickard of Boston Mass is suspended from all track racing until July 1. Changes in national circuit adjust Bridgeport Conn and Philadelphia Pa dates with new start and end days.
