Grand Army Parade Opens Beautiful Second Day in Portland
The second day of the Grand Army of the Republic national encampment in Portland featured a flawless procession with about 25 000 veterans marching. Officials and distinguished guests rode the reviewing stand as crowds packed Congress Street and Lincoln Park. Despite earlier fears, prohibition tensions eased with no arrests for intoxication as veterans praised hospitality from Maine leaders and the city.
