Lady cops guard Newport beach by two women officers

Thousands of sailors from the battleship fleet in Newport were policed by two uniformed women, Miss Janet Buchanan and Miss Minnie Smith, on Sunday. It was their first official Sunday duty, and their natty blue uniforms and brass buttons drew attention as they watched over sailors and beachgoers throughout a hot day.

Captain Dying for Food Found Wandering in Cambridge

Gloucester fishing master John Gregor was found in a starving, near dead condition at the Port land and Main streets corner in Cambridge on Sunday. Patrolman David Lynch aided him and he was admitted to Cambridge Relief Hospital where starvation was diagnosed. His master’s certificate identified him as 56, of Gloucester, with residence at 115 Pleasant Street. He recovered some strength and will be moved to Chelsea Marine Hospital unless relatives intervene.
