The Federation of American Zionists opened its 16th annual convention in Cincinnati with reports from officers led by President Louis Lipsky. A resolution called on the International Federation of Zionists to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine. A banquet for about 300 delegates followed the day’s sessions.

Labor Day Parade Set By B M Freight Handlers Union

Members of Boston and Maine Freight Handlers' Union Local 5572 voted to take part in the Labor Day parade with over 700 men expected. New officers were installed, and committees formed for parade planning. Also elected were officers for Boston and Maine Freight Clerks Assembly 1793 and New Haven road Freight Handlers Local Assembly 628. The two-month terminal division strike on the Boston and Maine is near settlement, with foremen offering strikers pay rates.

Reports noted an international convention in Boston July 14 at Faneuil Hall and an Atlantic Coast District Council convention there July 10. Delegates were urged to report persistent rule violations by some Boston stevedores about gang shifting for possible action by the council.
