John Nicholas Brown, the wealthiest infant, was christened John Nicholas at Emmanuel Church Newport. The private ceremony honored by Bishop oeVickar and Rev. Emery H Porter. Born to John Nicholas Brown who died May 1 leaving 6 million to his son. The heir, fifteen months old, is expected to inherit up to 80 million by adulthood, with 10 million presently available for his needs. The baby, frail yet cared for by top physicians, has blue eyes and yellow hair and resembles his father.

Fire destroys Eichbaum building in Pittsburg business district

A blaze in downtown Pittsburg on June 22 caused extensive damage in a square bordered by Fifth Avenue and Diamond Wood Market streets. The Eichbaum building burned completely while neighboring structures suffered severe damage. Losses likely exceed $300,000. Fifty Duff's College students on the fifth floor escaped unharmed. Origin of the fire remains unknown.

Teamster William Kingston Killed by Wagon Wheels

William Kingston a 60 year old teamster of Coffey Street Dorchester died instantly on Freeport Street when the heavy wagon he was atop ran frightened horses near Pope's Hill. He was unable to free himself and was crushed beneath the wheels.
