In the House of Commons Mr William St John Brodrick said no news from Pekin or Admiral Seymour. A June 18 report from Tien Tsin via Taku described attacks repulsed while Chinese shelled the foreign settlement. Allied forces including Austrians British Germans Italians and Russians fought June 17. Casualties were reported across British German Italian and Russian units. A Shanghai despatch reported by the US gunboat Nashville states the foreign quarter at Tien Tsin was shelled Monday and Tuesday by Generals Nieh Tung Fuh Siang Kang Su and Yuan Shu Kai. The foreign residents are confined to a restricted district with scarce food and water, and have suffered greatly. Tong-Shan mines at Pie-Tai-Ho were abandoned as Kotera flooded the mines and ruined the machinery.

Italians Fight With Bottles In North End Brawl
Louis Natiel of 16 Greenough lane and Saverio Monico of 33 Sheafe street clashed over beer in Greenough lane North End.
