At a June 21 convention in Concorp New Hampshire the Knights of Labor urged the Legislature and the Governor to enact all measures demanded by the state convention held in Manchester on September 21 1886 They demanded bills to regulate women and minor employment weekly wages bureau of labor statistics Election day holiday Labor Day first Monday in September and child labor rules plus a state board of arbitration and conciliation and factory ventilation and sanitation improvements.
The congressional express from Washington collides with a southbound train from Philadelphia at Havre de Grace. Alexander Gantrom of Washington is killed instantly. Several passengers including T A Bland A B Rice Leaker J N McCormick J M W Horton A L Wood and Rev Hobart Smith are injured with burns, cuts, or fractures.

Albert J. Robinson of Keene stable ambushed Augustus Carter of Hope at midnight in Rockland. Carter shot in the rack, badly wounded, with the bullet not yet found. Robinson arrested, arraigned for assault with intent to kill, held on 5000 dollars bail.

The Troy Club stake for 2:25 class saw Domestic win with Gean Smith second and Lady Whitefoot fourth. times near 2:25. Hotel stake of Troy for 2:29 class had W. Van and Graceful winning heats though the race was not finished. the event yielded multiple fast heats.
London marks the queen's jubilee with a grand procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. Crowds packed streets and stands as dignitaries, princes, and soldiers joined the royal entourage amid cheers, heat, and injuries from the crush.
