In Houston on June 19 a bold train robbery occurred at 1 30 am near Schulenburg on the Southern Pacific. Two armed men seized the engine and forced the train to the open prairie where ten men with Winchesters guarded the throttle and looted mail and express pouches totaling eight to ten thousand dollars.
New York reports Anna Dickinson, retired writer, gravely ill for over a year. At her Honesdale Pennsylvania home she faced nervous and other ailments, but ten days ago she began to rally and doctors now consider her chances of recovery good. A climate change may be sought when she can bear removal, possibly a year before reunion with friends.
In Washington on June 19 Anthony Noll a Hartford Connecticut resident and stonecutter collapsed at about four in the afternoon while working from heat. He dropped his mallet and fell forward then was carried to shelter but died before a doctor could be summoned. He resided in Hartford Conn.
Mr. William O'Brien arrived to an immense ovation in Dublin, greeted by the Lord Mayor and a vast procession. A Gaelic Athletic Society deputation joined the march, windows filled with spectators, and cheers for O'Brien, Davitt, Bodyke tenants, and Gladstone, with groans for Lansdowne and Salisbury.
London Sun correspondent reports James G Blaine staying at the Hotel Metropole in New York on June 19. He appears pale and unwell after a long journey, drawing crowd attention and mixed views about his Irish sympathy remarks. London dispatch reports the Dawn passing Wick at 10 o clock Saturday night while the Gwendolin Aline and Seline followed this morning in the same order. Winds were light from the northeast and tides favored the Pentland Firth passage.

Columnus Ohio June 19 Governor Foraker is expected to seek a second term but election chances are uncertain. Sherman may oppose or nominally support him. Democrats may field a strong ticket. Dissension stems from Blaine Sherman clash and Dow liquor law, while Thurman could seek the governorship at Cleveland on July 20. Powell, Foran, and Campbell are also active contenders if Thurman declines.
First Officer Calloway of the City of Washington recounts a Cuban plot to abduct Senator Sherman during a Havana visit. Miss Mary Irene Hoyt appealed the ruling claiming income of 1 250 000 had been set apart for her. James B. Morrow, an insane patient from State asylum No. 2, escaped and attacked his brother in law Allen and his wife near Gower. He shot at Allen and pelleted the wife with stones before Allen returned fire, wounding Morrow in the thigh. He was captured by sheriff's posse and confined in the asylum hospital.
In New York on June 19 a McGlynn parade and mass meeting gathered about 6000 marchers organized by St. Stephen’s parishioners and local labor groups to denounce Archbishop Corrigan and Rome’s move to remove Dr. McGlynn. Dr. McGlynn reviewed the procession from Union Square.
Mrs Weltha A Emmons filed an exception to the auditor s report arguing the auditor erred in charging her with trial costs. She contends Professor Emmons should bear all expenses of the hearing as he allegedly forced the trial. The auditor had proposed Emmons pay typical trial costs while Emmons would cover her $3000 attorney fees and unusual expenses.
Mme Sarah Bernhardt and thirty in her company departed New York aboard the steamship City of Richmond of the Inman line. She wore a buff costume with white illusion at her throat and avoided the crowd on deck. Marcus Meyer did multiple farewell appearances above deck speaking in several languages. The company ladies were notable figures in the departure scene.
University of Pennsylvania crews reached New London all set to open the series with a four mile straightaway race between Columbia and Harvard on Thursday. The Pennsylvanians will row Yale the next day at Crocker House headquarters.
