Ode for Harvard from Houston Poet George William Gray
CLASS ODE By George William Gray of Houston Texas. From the hills and the plains and the farthest shore From the valley and mountain and sea Thou hast gathered thy chosen and made them one blood In their sonship Fair Harvard to thee. Though the centuries change though the myriads pass Though the years beckon eager be fore Thou art ever enshrined in the hearts that look back to behold thee to bless and adore. In the thrill of our youth we believe in our might God keep it ennobled and true In the ways thou hast stood in the service of right To dream and to strive and to do. All the joy of this day all the hope of our heart is a pledge unto God and to thee That we go in the shield and the armor of Truth In a faith that is reverent and free.
