Hyannis man arraigned for murder of wife in Hyannisport

Joseph A. Hill of Hyannis pleaded not guilty in District Court to the murder of his wife Mary T. Hill in Hyannisport, with no bail set for June 23 exam. Hill, 25, white, previously had a troubled marriage and was seized with two revolvers. He admitted firing the shots, claimed jealousy as motive, and was jailed in Barnstable. The victim was about 23.

People Flock to Crescent Beach and State Reservation

About 15 000 visitors crowded Crescent Beach and the State reservation yesterday enjoying ideal weather. The boulevard bustled with pleasure seekers, the bath house drew crowds though cool air limited swimming. By 5 pm only 500 had swum, far below last year’s June 17 record of just over 900. No arrests or accidents were reported.

Beacon Hill Monument Presented to the State

The Beacon Hill monument completed last year by the Bunker Hill Monument Association was transferred to the Commonwealth at the society’s annual meeting held at the Vendome Hotel. The vote passed nearly unanimously with about fifty members present. President Winslow Warren delivered an address denouncing U.S. imperial policy, while Rev. Porter and Nathan Appleton spoke on differing views and administration policy. New members were elected and officers named, including Winslow Warren as president and Charles Francis Adams as vice president. Treasurer Hilton reported year receipts of 16,649.51 and a treasury balance of 28,165.91.

Society of Colonial Wars Field Day in Bedford Springs

The Society of Colonial Wars of Massachusetts held an annual field day at Bedford Springs with about fifty members arriving by special train. A 2 PM dinner at the Sweetwater Hotel featured Mr. A. J.
