Lowks June 17 special Rose Les hie, a 25 year old performer with John B Doris's circus, died today at St John’s hospital. She was born in Hamilton Ontario and married to John McLaughlin. She weighed 615 pounds and stood 5 feet 3 inches. Her casket will be specially constructed, 30 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 5 feet 10 inches long.
William Bower, town clerk, resigned after a $1040.70 deficiency in accounts. He is under arrest after drinking led to defamation. Lawyers Preston Brown and Potter, bondsmen, visited Pittsfield with District Attorney Waterman. Candidates include Henry Robinson, A Clay Bliss, A W Hardman, and William B Pyne.
Sheriffs Atherton and Moody captured two men suspected of Waterbury and Stowe burglaries after a late night pursuit on the Middlesex Montpelier highway. The fugitives fired four shots, Atherton wounded one in the shoulder. tool set for burglary found on them. They are jailed in Waterbury and refuse to give names.

Lynn June 17. Special The Lynn Cycle Club Track Association held its second spring meeting featuring six events. S. L. Truesdale won the one mile novice with 3 5 2-5, H McBrien second. W A Rowe captured the one mile open amateur in 2 37 2-5 with George E Webber second. Eck rode a quarter mile on a tricycle in 42 2-5, breaking the pro record and earning a gold medal. George M Hendee won the three mile lap in 8 44 1-5 with Webber second. prizes included a silver service valued 48, opera glasses 15. John S Prince won the ten mile pro in 30 1 5, prize 150 plus gate money. W F Hitchcock won the two mile handicap in 5 19, prizes marble vases 30 silver basket 16 and bronzes 10. Next meet set for July 5 at 2 pm.
At Mystic Park Medford on June 17 a $590 purse match race featured Minnie C. driven by Henry Richardson and Vermont Girl driven by Billy Parker. Minnie C. won all three heats despite Vermont Girl’s strong efforts, with crowds from Lowell and about 500 in attendance. Weather was cloudy, track slow, last heat run through a shower. Minnie C. recorded times near 2:39, 2:37 with Vermont Girl breaking late in heat three.
Beacon Park Brighton hosted a horse racing program yesterday for the Harrison Avenue Home for Destitute Children. Three classes ran, a three minute extra, with Parnell the bay gelding winning the free-for-all in two straight heats. Prince won the 2:50 class while FranB and Little Sweeper were notable in the 2:40 class.
