Morey Accepts Connie Mack Offer to Join Athletics

Hanover New Hampshire June 16 Dave Morey Dartmouth captain and pitcher has accepted Connie Mack's offer to join the Philadelphia Athletics starting July 1. He signed with the A's over two other American League cities. Overworked by exams and duties he departs to rest hoping a period at Oxford will restore him. Morey, a right handed pitcher of 179 pounds, captained Dartmouth this spring and may be used in the outfield for hitting. He has won championships with Malden High and local leagues.

Harvard Fours Get Practice On Starts

Red Top Conn June 16 The freshman eight paddled paced by the varsity crew with no fast work, strokes under 30 per minute until a brief brush near the finish. Chichester in good health. everyone reported in pink condition. Four oared crews raced down stream to the navy yard, with several brush starts and even finishes. Temperatures were high and workouts lighter this morning with swims at the naval station.

Harvard boat race observation train tickets limited

Applications for 2300 tickets were received but only 1934 were secured from the New Haven railroad for the observation train following the boat race. Tickets go two each to crew members and to each old oarsman with an "H" and to Varsity Club members. about two and a half cars reserved for class of 1888 anniversary. remaining tickets allocated to seniors graduates and undergraduates with singles and two tickets for seniors and graduates.

Sweeney Loses Exhibition Billiards Match in Pittsburg

In Pittsburg on June 16 Captain Bill Sweeney of the Boston Braves lost to Ora Morningstar ex champ 250 to 13 in 18.2 balk line billiards with Morningstar also totaling 250 to 125. Morningstar ran 12 innings to finish 66 and had a high run of 89 in the 10th while Sweeney’s best was 6. Charles McCourt refereed and players from the Pirates and Braves attended. Morningstar then gave an exhibition of fancy shots.
