Automobile men have fine outing at Pine Grove Springs

Sanctioned Bay State Automobile Association members and 150 guests enjoyed a day at Pine Grove Springs Hotel Spofford Lake New Hampshire. Chairman William Stevens and committee coordinated events with President Gilmore arriving. Activities included lawn tennis golf and baseball with Tom Glenn and Fred Ayers sharing golf high scores while Ayers excelled in putting. A ballroom dance capped the evening as no speeding incidents marred the run.

Van Vieck Sets New Amateur Golf Record at Lynnewood Cup

Philadephia June 16. C B Van Vieck of Montclair Golf Club posted a new amateur mark at Huntingdon Valley Country Club, shooting 75 in the qualifying round for the Lynnewood Hall cup. The prior course record was 76 shared by H B McFarland R Mott and W L Thompson, with Travers unable to compete.

Gamblers Denied Entrance to Game at Polo Grounds

June 16. A large number of men accused by management of betting on the New York vs Detroit game were barred from the Polo Grounds. About 150 could not enter, and 50 others who escaped earlier were removed from the grand stand. Detectives had been patrolling stands amid league efforts against betting. Ban Johnson visited the park.
