Conductor Drowns Canoeing on the Charles River
William Harris, 28, a conductor on the Boston Elevated Railway, drowned while canoeing near Spring Street station on the Charles River. His companion Fred Dauman, 826 Parker Street, also a railway employee, attempted rescue after the canoe tipped. Dauman was saved. Harris body found near a boathouse by Walter Eastman and Rudolph Doretseth. Harris’s mother, Mrs. B. F. Harris, resides in Rutherford, New Jersey.
