Madrid June 46 newly appointed minister to Spain Mr Bellamy Storer was received in formal audience by the Queen Regent. There were cordial phrases two state carriages conveyed him to and from the palace Premier Silvera presented him to the queen. The reception was unannounced to avoid incidents. King Oscar Receives Hydrographic Congress in Stockholm

The Hydrographic Congress members were welcomed at the royal castle by King Oscar. He displayed the torn despatch from Arctic balloonist Andree, recently found in Iceland. Dr Nansen judged that if Andree had survived, he might have reached Greenland, possibly found by the Nathorst expedition. Results from the expedition won't be known until September.
