Alderman Presho, head of the civic and military parade committee, sought marine participation and received notice from Acting Secretary Roose Welt that marines at the Boston Navy Yard are ordered to parade on June 17, marking a notable improvement for the event.
Havana reports General Fuentes defeated patriots with twenty three killed five captured and five dynamite bombs seized. Spanish losses include five killed one officer and seventeen soldiers wounded.
