Rail routes disrupt traffic tied to Memphis line

The Kansas City, Fort Scott and Gulf railway disrupts Southwestern system freight by diverting east bound traffic from Kansas City to Memphis and thence to the Memphis and Charleston. It also diverts Kansas and Missouri traffic away from Missouri Pacific and other lines, imperiling direct line business. The Memphis and Charleston lease to East Tennessee faces risks if the KC, FS&G line remains. The Southwestern Railway association met in Chicago to weigh remedies amid the new competition.
