Four cars wrecked in two nearly identical crashes at Chestnut and Walnut streets Brookline. Nine people were hurt with J H Milton of Cambridge most seriously injured, suffering scalp wounds facial and body abrasions and internal injuries. The other victims sustained minor cuts and abrasions.
A 3:45 p.m. crash on Walnut Street, Brookline, sent five people under a car and left Milton unconscious. Assistant Superintendent James Shea and chauffeur Christopher Galvin, in a Park Department auto, escaped with minor injuries. Dr. Chase treated all involved before Milton was moved home. A prior morning collision near the same area caused only minor injuries.
A. Anderson of 4 Long Wharf laments the loss of his daily receipts totaling $100, stolen from a Fate office late last night. Local police investigate the mysterious theft.
In Havana on June 14 the removal of water from the cofferdam enclosing the Maine wreck will continue until portions of the sunken battleship, submerged thirteen years, are exposed including the midship area affected by the explosion the quarter deck and part of the berth deck where most of the unidentified victims are believed to lie.
After today’s consult with General Bixbee and Colonels Black and Patrick, officers conclude the cofferdam is stable for pumping. Pumps will reduce water to reveal upper after-section from stern to engine-room area, where the explosion hid parts. A plan to sever the ship into sections and remove fragments follows, with aims to recover remains within 7 to 10 days.
William J. Shannahan and Miss Mary T. McCarthy, recently married at St. Catherine's Church Somerville, had a close brush with death in Cambridge Tuesday evening when their car collided with another. Shannahan suffered a bad head bruise while McCarthy was greatly unnerved. the vehicle was wrecked.

The Gray's Elegy dispute in Dighton returns to public view as Supreme Court grants a hearing to Mrs. Lucy M. Briggs. An agreement was reached on dismissal papers between her attorney and the Dighton school committee, ending one phase of the conflict.

A bay horse broke loose from its halter during exercise at Melrose central station. The fire horse caused a bell alarm to be sounded before the runaway was captured and returned to its stall.
A mad dog ran through Mast Boston mowing down in a wild chase that sent schoolchildren into homes and shops. Three people suffered serious bites while many suffered minor injuries before the animal was killed by Hadeeus Mack of 33 Trenton Street with a baseball bat.
Elzora Briggs, age 12, accuses teacher Miss Mary W. Matheson of forcing her to recite 44 lines from Gray's Elegy after failing a memorization task. The pupil says she was pulled to the floor and expelled, while Superintendent Davis defends the teacher's credentials and experience.
William J. Riley drove the hook and ladder wagon when a bay horse broke loose from the exercise wagon. The horse bolted toward Main street and then back to the station after a bell alarm sounded. The animal returned in minutes and earned the department’s affection.
The seven submarines of the Atlantic torpedo fleet's third division will depart Narragansett Bay early tomorrow for Gloucester Massachusetts. The entire run will be submerged with possible surface stops only to recharge batteries.
Four year old Augustus Mullaney of 130 Saratoga street suffered a severe bite to the right leg after a bull terrier attacked near Paris street. Arthur Baldwin of 48 Saratoga street was bitten on the hand, and Thaddeus Mack sustained a severe bite on the arm. All three were treated at East Boston Relief Hospital where wounds were cauterized. The dog’s head was severed for examination. Pasteur treatment possible if rabies confirmed. Police and Health officers pursue other victims and owners, with reports the dog belonged to Michael J. Crawford of 16 Putnam street.
Beverly June 14 Daniel W. Mc Lean police officer on the depot route was instantly killed tonight electrocuted while attempting to light an electric light at the corner of Rantoul and Railroad avenues where the power had failed.

Aviator Earl L. Ovington wowed crowds in Waltham Waverley and Lexington with a 3000 foot high flight in 25 mph wind. The ex Tech man piloted a monoplane Bleriot with a 79 horsepower Gnome engine, planning a Boston flight over Watertown Brighton and along the Charles River, then returning to Waltham. He previously gained wind-current experience soaring over Columbus Ohio.
Ovington flew a monoplane at altitudes up to 3000 feet during a sensational display around Waltham and nearby towns. The stunt, performed on the eve of the Wal tham aviation meet at Metz Aerodrome, impressed veteran aviators despite strong winds and high risk.
In Alfred Maine a hearing on Mrs. Olea Bull Vaughan's will exposes discord over visions from her late husband Ole Bull and a proposed Eliot retreat for childless couples. The plan, linked to Carrie J Farmer and a $500 gift from Mary Baker Eddy, involves reclaiming $25 000 donated earlier, stirring opposition from Vaughan. Testimony covers clairvoyant ties and a horoscope sent to Vaughan, plus a letter opposing scattering Mrs Bull’s ashes on her husband’s grave.
