Girls Plant the Ivy at Howard Seminary Commencement

West Bridgewater June 12 commencement exercises opened with an ivy ovation by Mary G Riley of Washington. Grace Robbins of Waterbury Conn gave the class history. Songs by Belle Lation of Mattatuck L I and Bertha Robinson of Lawrence followed. The ivy planting was performed by the ice. An evening concert occurred. Tomorrow noon the luncheon will be served and at 3 p m the graduation address by Mrs. Alice Freeman Palmer on Some Sources of Happiness.

Wheaton Seminary Commencement Exercises Highlight Seniors and Undergraduates

Public exercises at Wheaton Seminary Norton on June 12 featured both seniors and undergraduates. From 8:30 to 10:30 students performed classroom exercises followed by general exercises in Seminary Hall with essays and readings by Ruth L. Cambridge Board Bans Editor From Reporters Table

The Cambridge Board of Aldermen voted to bar the editor of the Cambridge News or any representative from the reporters row, citing an attack on Alderman Hans L. Carstein over the Cofran clay lands purchase, while allowing attendance at meetings. Cyclist Injured in Collision Near South Station

Charles Howarth of 18 Hawthorn Roslindale a noted Metropolitan Cycle Club member collided with an electric car of the Boston Elevated near South Station suffering severe facial and body injuries. He was treated at the Emergency Hospital.

Grewsome Goodwin ruins spark inquest adjourned

The scene at the smouldering Goodwin homestead remains a grisly clue as Bertsch the hired man and sons Scott Guy Goodwin and others arrive. Investigators suspect the father Goodwin and housekeeper Mrs Horne were killed in their beds before a theft and arson. The inquest was adjourned subject to the coroner's call.

Boston City Briefs: Careys Accident and Larceny Arrest

John Carey 60 of 111 Third Street South Boston fell from a freight car in the New Haven yard yesterday, injuring his forehead and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital by ambulance. Inspector Shields and Special Officer Wright arrested James J. McDonal of Edgewood for larceny of nine ivory bills a clock and some ornaments from a Gobury area field.

Chased the Wrong Man in Wenham

After a noon train arrival spurred town rumors of George Champion’s arrival in Wenham in relation to a Maine tragedy, officials later identified the boarding passenger as John Saunders of Union New Hampshire. Saunders revealed he nearly missed the southbound train, rode to the baggage car, and confirmed Champion did not come this way. Detectives, returning late, will pursue other clues to locate Champion.

Woman Fasts Since May 30 for Health in Worcester

Ice cooled Columbia Theatre showcases six ice pyramids

Last evening the new cooling apparatus at the Columbia Theatre was tested for the first time. Six ice machines placed in different parts of the house, with blocks of ice in the cellar, produce a steady cool temperature throughout the theater, while illuminated ice pyramids display flowers and ferns. The management expects relief from heat.

Roosevelt Out of It in Vice Presidential Talks

June 12. Senator Platt said Governor Roosevelt is not to be considered for the vice presidential nomination and has refused the nomination.
