Dixon and Yanger Fight To Draw In Chicago Ring

In Chicago on June 12 George Dixon and Denny Yanger known as the Tipton Slasher fought six fast rounds to a draw before about 7000 spectators. Yanger, once a novice, showed notable progress with exchanges centered to the body and ribs. New York June 12 Gravesend raced a fast card. Fake led from the start to win the Hanover five furlongs with Lief Prince second and Carl Kahler third. Ned Haninan has received an offer from Columbia College to join for the balance of the season after the 18th. The Union Boat Club may grant him a week or ten days away. Death in Silver Lake Atholl Melvin Mitchell Suicide

Death reported at Silver Lake when Melvin R. Mitchell aged 3 from Atholl who had long worked as foreman at M. Lees shoe factory drowned himself this afternoon. His body was found by three men boating on the lake. Letters addressed to his wife in this town and to John Bulton of St Albans Bay were found on him. Mitchell had been despondent for some time and warned friends he would not be seen again.
