BOOK NOTES AND REVIEWS ON LELAND LIND BIOGRAPHY
Review of Gypsy Sorcery and Fortune Telling by Charles Godfrey Leland notes its scholarly pomp yet value in capturing gypsy lore and modern folklorists. It praises Leland as preserver of ancient tales, compares to Borrow, and highlights illustrations, but critiques reading ease and factual slips. It also covers two volumes on Jenny Lind by Kielland and Rockstro, praising cadenzas but faulting prose, moralizing, and uneven criticism.
