In Washington the Senate heard Mr Evarts urge free coinage of silver and restoration of silver to pre demonetization, warning of a dangerous shift since 1873. Senator Vance supported unlimited silver coinage, insisting it would correct depreciation harming farmers and workers, while Morgan endorsed the finance committee amendments before adjournment.
Washington June 12 The Speaker announced Mills of Texas resigned from the rules committee to which he was appointed. McMillin of Tennessee filled the vacancy. Conference report on the anti trust bill was defeated after a quorum issue. A further conference moved to recede from the House amendment narrowing contracts deemed unlawful. The motion to proceed was agreed to with yeas 106 nays 98. Also approved conference report on the military academy appropriation and an urgent deficiency bill for pensions and the Eleventh Census expenses.
The Lodge resolution urging the Secretary of the Treasury to explain Cunard Steamship Company's refusal to provide return passage to immigrants held under the contract labor law was adopted. Mr. Morrow presented the conference report on the pension bill, and a further conference was ordered. The House moved to the agricultural appropriation bill, which was then passed.
New York June 12 report of referee Stetgen closes the Ives & Stayner winding up. Original liabilities were 19 million, 11 million erased by loans and securities sales. Proved claims total 6,824,874 with 98 percent agreeing to accept, others about 4 percent. Referee finds John C. Coombs and colleagues of Boston not provable against the estate. Ends major litigation over Henry Alves & Co estate.
Chicago nine defeated Cleveland 11 to 6 in a rain interrupted game at Cleveland. Base hits favored Chicago with 11 to Cleveland's 12, three errors for Chicago and seven for Cleveland. Learston earned the win with Balding and Farrell, O'Brien and Sutcliffe. Stolen bases by Radford Tebeau McAleer Comiskey Pfeffer Latham. Time 1 hour 50 minutes.

Anson's Chicago team dominated Schmitt's Pittsburghs with 16 runs on 15 hits and 3 errors. Notable batting included Carroll and Crane with two-baggers and Andrews hitting a three-base blow. Hutchinson and Kittridge combined for the win while Schmitt took the loss as 1000 fans looked on.

Hagar offered ten Republican votes for ten thousand dollars, with payments guaranteed and used for surrounding entertainments. Fassett, warned by Sanderson, discussed the price and possible political fallout, while Williams and others observed and questioned the process under oath.
