Commencement began at 10 40 a m featuring ex Mayors ex Governors and other dignitaries and diplomas were conferred by President Cogswell. The 26 graduates listed include Emma J Anewalt Rebecca A Bassett Grace E Brown Edith Eason Annie E Ellis Mary Everett Mary Haseltine Rachel Holland and Harriet Johnson among others. John B Tewksbury served as chief marshal for the thirty first time.

Naval orders assign Captain O F Stanton to command the receiving ship New Hampshire and the Newport training station Rhode Island starting July 1, relieving Commander E J Higginson who goes to waiting orders. Captain A R Yates detached from the Pensacola. Lieutenant Commander H W Lyon ordered to duty at the torpedo station and War College on the 26th.
The steamer Hondo of the Honduras & Central American Company burned to the water’s edge and sank at the north pier of Atlantic dock Brooklyn tonight. It was due to an engine room lamp explosion and carried 6 000 cases of oil plus general cargo. Total losses estimated at 15 000 on vessel and 25 000 on cargo.
The west bound Cotton Belt train wrecked two miles from Texarkana after robbers forced entry into the express car. They secured less than $200, while another account claims up to $10,000 was taken and the messenger was killed. One suspect has been arrested.
The Selectmen held a hearing in Brookline Town Hall last evening on the Boston and Albany petition to relocate passenger stations Chapel and Longwood midway between. Discussions covered undeveloped functions of Congregational Churches and addresses profiled church work in country towns, the assistant pastorate, weekday church use, and the Christian Year. A social gathering followed in Bartlett Chapel.
