Dr Timothy H Smith a prominent North End citizen died Friday June 10 at Cliftondale aged 61. Irish born, he studied medicine at Dublin and built a large Boston practice. He owned land spanning Saugus and North Chelsea and created a race course about 1860. He later summered in Cliftondale and served on Boston school committee as a Democrat. He recruited two Irish regiments in the Civil War and invested in real estate, suffering losses in the 1873 panic. Others: Seolay Baker 78 in Bangor, William S Bradbury 69 in Shrewsbury, Charles White 67 in Brighton, and John Miller 70 in Columbus.
