Princeton Freshmen struck in alley by expe​dited shooter

Frederick Oh and Garrett Cochrane, both 19 and Princeton College freshmen, were badly wounded by John Collins in an alley in front of Anderson's Hotel at Princeton. Collins, a laborer, was arrested after a dramatic vigil as students demanded punishment. Downs, another Black man, was jailed alongside Collins. Ohl, from Newcastle, Penn, is a Princeton football alumnus. Cochrane hails from Williamsport, Penn.

Captain Bradford B Briggs died suddenly at 71 in Sandwich from neuralgia of the heart. A former merchant mariner, he toured foreign ports and later worked in painting. A staunch Republican and temperance activist, he served in the Legislature and was a deacon of the Congregational church. He leaves a widow and a daughter.

Elevator Tragedy Claims Conn. Teacher in Brooklyn

Sarah Jane Lester age 40 of Woodstock Connecticut was killed in a Brooklyn elevator accident at 12 20 pm while riding between the first and basement floors. The accident occurred in the building housing the Young Women's Christian Association on Schermerhorn Street and Flatbush Avenue. The exact cause remains unknown and officials are investigating.

Emmett Tried Murdering Wife in San Francisco

Actor J K Emmett, in a drunken quarrel with wife Emily Lyton, chased her through their apartment and down the street last night. A 8 year old protege Baby Lynott aided in restraining Emmett as he fired twice but neither shot hit his wife. he fled to his doorstep where police arrested him. Mrs Emmett was treated for a scalp wound and released to stay with her brother in law. Emmett posted 2000 bail and pledged sobriety.
