Secret ballot bill killed as legislature acts
The session saw the secret ballot measure defeated while the Senate passed the Sunday bill to be enacted and the Stony Brook loan bill to engrossed. Debates covered illiteracy amendments, a measure on admission to places of amusement, and a plan to refer state house expansion to a governor-appointed commission alongside other routine motions and vetoes. The Shanly resolve advanced, and various bills related to taxes, public utilities, and education proceeded through readings with amendments or suspensions of rules.
