General Pershing arrives aboard an American liner greeted by the American Vanguard. Commander and staff are escorted ashore amid tremendous enthusiasm. Military bands play the Star Spangled Banner as the liner docks. The party is met by leading British army officers with the Welsh Regiment as escort. The city mayor participates in the welcome.
An earthquake struck San Juan del Sur and surrounding areas starting at 7 pm and lasting through the night. Communication from the Nicaraguan president confirms widespread destruction in San Salvador Santa Tecla and adjacent communities.

Mrs. Cleo Cole widow of William T. Cole lies seriously ill at Scobey Hospital as Brighton police prepare to present the case to the grand jury. An autopsy will be performed on Cole who died from vitriol burns. Doubt arises over ante mortem statements and motive. Mrs Cole again claims she did not know of the acid and that her husband produced and threw it.
Michael MacAuliff 48 of Quincy died en route to City Hospital after being locked in a cell at Lagrange street police station following a 10 30 arrest in Dewey square for drunkenness. An autopsy is scheduled after his body was sent to the morgue.
The Belfast Unionist Council, chaired by Sir Edward Carson, voted to participate in the Irish convention. The decision reflects belief that government urges agreement on the Irish question to aid the war effort, while promising no forced plans and open consideration of all proposals.

At about 10 45 pm an armed man entered Samuel Epstein s drug store at 329 Warren Street Roxbury and demanded the cash register contents. Epstein handed over about 20 dollars after being threatened with the revolver. The robber fled the scene described as 29 years old 5 feet 10 inches tall weight about 150 pounds in a dark suit and hat.

London dispatch reports a British transatlantic liner docked with the first division of the American army sailing to join French and British forces. General John J. Pershing and staff, about 60 officers, 70 soldiers, and civilian notables traveled aboard. The ship crossed safely with escorting torpedo boat destroyers.
