Reports from Washington say the Russian Emperor, in a meeting with American Ambassador Meyer, indicated willingness to consider peace. The exchange was cordial, with Meyer delivering a friendly goodwill note from the President. Submarine A-8 Lost Off Plymouth In Morning Disaster

Plymouth England June 8 Submarine boat A-8 was lost off the breakwater this morning after three explosions. It carried 18 officers and men including regular crew and trainees. Fourteen drowned while the rest were rescued by a passing trawler. Lieutenant Candy commanded the boat and Sub-Lieutenant Murdoch was among the survivors. Explosions over the sinking site ended hopes of saving the others.

Sixteen Hurt In Inverness Coal Mine Explosion

Sixteen men and boys employed by the Inverness Railway and Mining Company were injured today when a powder explosion ripped the pick house 500 feet down the slope. About 300 workers were descending when the blast occurred. many were thrown unconscious. Doctors say they expect full recovery.

Worcester June 9. Officer James Donahue found a man unconscious and dying from wounds on Vernon street at 2 30 this morning. Two men with him were arrested and the injured man, unnamed, was sent to the hospital. The case may be a murder.

Fred Gillete a 14 year old youth of 60 Franklin street was arrested after a mob of about 200 gathered at the Blood Co grocery at Summer and Pleasant streets and pelted employees with stones as they left. He will appear in juvenile court tomorrow morning. No employees were injured amid a minor disturbance tied to a dispute over half-holiday clerical work.
