Rome reports an earthquake in the Province of Foggia Northern Apulia during June 7. Crowds at cathedrals and churches in Foggia felt tremors sparking belief in a miracle as sacred images swayed but no lives are believed lost though several houses suffered damage.
Forecasters predict fair weather in New England and eastern New York on Wednesday with variable winds, becoming warmer by Thursday. Boston should stay fair while Minneapolis and Washington heat up, with temperatures rising into the high 80s or 90s across the upper Midwest later in the week.

The Harrison organization appears strongest, with General Michener claiming 536 votes on the first ballot and Foraker noting credentials committee sympathy for Blaine.
Augustus Russ, a famous Boston lawyer, died at his Hotel Bellevue rooms on Beacon Street last evening at 6 o'clock after a six month illness marked by pneumonia. He leaves a brother Charles Russ, a sister Lucy Russ, a niece Mrs Barry, and Mr Hassey at his bedside. Russ studied law under John C. Park after a varied career, built the city’s largest private law library, led the Old School Boys Association, helped found the Boston Yacht Club, and held several municipal and party roles. He lived over his offices on Pemberton square until moving to the Bellevue six years ago. He was born February 6, 1827, in Boston.
Ex Secretary Blaine departed the executive scene at 3:15 pm amid little ceremony. He handled correspondence and farewells as state department officials visited him at his red mansion. The party boarded a private Pennsylvania Railroad car for Boston, with Mrs Blaine and James G Blaine Jr. present.
