A local retailer advertises remaining Cassimere and Fancy Worsted Suits at Lot 1 ten dollars and Lot 2 fifteen dollars for the balance of the week. Many already sold Saturday, but substantial stock remains, promoting weekend buyers.

A Boston delegation returning from a cross country tour aboard the Colonial express praised the journey as thoroughly enjoyable. They denied any corporation funding, noting expenses were covered from their own pockets and that the trip aimed to study urban systems for Boston.

Wilkins Austin a Yale sophomore aged 21 died in New Haven after injuries suffered during Junior Society initiation. He collapsed after 8 pm and an operation failed to save him before his parents could arrive. The accident occurred when he ran blindfolded into a carriage pole, causing a severe abdominal blow.
Portland June 6 voters statewide chose two Congressmen a Supreme Judge Attorney General and legislators in the most orderly election in state history. Indications suggested Republican statewide ticket favored except for attorney general with returns sparse. People's Party expected to hold about one sixth of the vote drawing roughly equal from Democrats and Republicans.
John Stott, superintendent of Belvidere woollen mill No. 2, ex member of the water board and Common Council, a Republican figure, shot himself at his Belvidere home after long illness. He was 58, born in England, and leaves a wife and one daughter. He belonged to Oberlin and Lowell lodges and other orders, including past grand dictator of that order.
Captain William L. Fox of the Charles town City Guards is alive according to his own words told to a reporter. He went away on Friday on business, his family did not hear, and Sunday he returned home as he left Boston. He telegraphed his wife and declared he is alive with a jocular remark to the reporter.
A conference of New York Democratic national convention delegates gathered at the Hoffman House in New York tonight with most of the delegation present except Frederick Cook and George Ehret. General Slocum reaffirmed the pledge to nominate David B. Hill and keep his name before the convention. Governor Flower was named chairman of the resolutions committee and asked to be excused from chairing the full delegation. The group planned to rally Hill supporters and collect assessments before adjourning.
Weather forecast calls for warm west winds and generally clear skies today. For Maine New Hampshire Vermont cooler west winds fair Wednesday. Massachusetts Rhode Island Connecticut and eastern New York continue warm west winds and generally clear Tuesday and probably Wednesday.
The wills of Joseph Banforth and James A Merrill of Newburyport were probated. Banforth bequeathed 5000 dollars to Baldwin Place Home for Little Wanderers and 4000 to Anna Tacgnse Hospital. Merrill’s estate after his wife’s death is left in equal shares to Newburyport Society for the Relief of Aged Men and for the Relief of Aged Women.
