Arrest of Thomas 5B Childs on New York grand larceny warrant
Thomas 5B Childs was arrested Saturday on a requisition warrant as a fugitive from New York and wanted at Syracuse for grand larceny. He is accused of bunco scheming with old basket maker Jacob Becker of Liverpool to invest $300 in a losing game. An accomplice G. W. Otis was arrested. Childs allegedly fled with $400 meant to bail Otis. An officer from Syracuse seeks his return, with habeas corpus to be sought today.
