The third annual Massachusetts Trap Shooting Association tournament began at Worcester Sportsmen Club in Shrewsbury. W. W. Putnam of Fitchburg led with 141 of 150, F. O. Williams of Boston was second with 140, and Williams and J. Snow of Boston shared second place for teams with 1& thirds.

Loan lenders pledge to obey law after supervisor’s push

Money lenders with sub 300 dollar loans promise to follow the law after a vigorous campaign by State supervisor E Gerry Brown. Borrowers who paid illegal interest or extra charges can recover sums by applying to Brown, who will handle claims free of charge. Brown also said he would not accept nominal fines for guilty pleas.

An I W W striker smashed the plate glass at John J. Wortisch’s barber shop in the Devonshire building 196 Washington Street. Police pursued him as a crowd followed down Washington Street after the incident. A second window near Essex and South streets was also shattered by a brick with police restoring order.

The horse bolted through a crowded area, he grabbed the bridle, turning the wild animal onto Day street where Gott pinned it until the driver reached the scene and the horse stood down.

City Taxes Take Jump

Oscar Hutchinson, 18, of 134 Chandler Street Everett, was arrested after trying to sell 23 dollars of stamps to Boulevard Pharmacy for 10 dollars. Police say the stamps were stolen from Boulevard Pharmacy three days earlier, bought from a boy for six dollars.

Woman leaps from West Boston Bridge to river in distress

Mrs Caroline Sokolowski, 26, climbed the highest span of the West Boston Bridge in a panic over her ill two year old daughter and leaped 46 feet into the Charles River. Fred Milton of the Nadeline lowered a boat and rescued her within minutes, bringing her to the pier where first aid was given before she was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. Doctors said she is expected to live.
