Testimony on Governor Douglas and theater funding
Witnesses describe attempts to secure relief from committee members and urge Governor Douglas to settle the bill. Ex congressman McNary cites a claim that Hamlin said Douglas would contribute to running expenses. Other witnesses confirm Douglas gave funds but not for the theatre. Douglas says he hired Skeffington in 1994 and donated 5000 for the party. The defense argues Dwyer used 1908 committee funds from 1904 contributions to pay bills, leaving insufficient rent money.
