The Metropolitan Park Commission to meet at 10 AM at 14 Beacon Street to discuss plans to reconstruct or replace the Wellington bridge over the Mystic River between Somerville and Medford, partly destroyed yesterday by fire.
The burned bridge on the Boston to North Shore route is completely closed until rebuilt. Without a legislative appropriation the Park Commission lacks funds and authority to repair. A bill must be submitted to obtain money and authority for rebuilding the bridge. The State does not insure its property.

Indications after today's session of the Interstate Commerce Commission inquiry into the New York New Haven Hartford railroad suggest the investigation may be completed soon perhaps next week. The hearing in Washington focused on railroad affairs and regulatory scrutiny.
At an afternoon hearing, Walker D. Hines pressed witnesses from the road as Commissioner McChord aimed to finish this phase tomorrow. L. S. Miller of the NY, Westchester & Boston Railway was named, while Ledyard clashed with Folk, and Cuyler and Clark testified on board operations and minutes.

Former Boston mayor John F. Fitzgerald is poised to acquire the Oak Hall Clothing Company at 95 Washington Street. The transfer is nearly complete and the store will operate under the John F. Fitzgerald Clothing Company name once final negotiations close.
Colonel Theodore Roosevelt arrived in Cherbourg aboard the Olympic to attend his son Kermit Roosevelt’s wedding to Miss Belle Wyatt Willard. French officials welcomed him and President Poincare's private car was provided for his use. Roosevelt praised the reception and said the voyage had benefited him, appearing in fine health and high spirits.
Thomas J. Holmes, 21, who spent $10,000 since January and forfeited rights to an estate worth $200,000, surrendered at police headquarters after learning of a warrant for auto theft valued at $600. Police say he led a lavish life after inheriting $10,000 from his grandmother and maintained expensive Back Bay apartments.
Holmes weds Pearl Britton in Brookline on March 16 and soon after receives a $200000 fortune claim from wealthy uncle John Turner of Salt Lake City if he proves capable. He travels to New York with his bride, who then disappears, while Turner doubts his fitness and wills the estate to charity. Holmes surrenders to authorities in New York with only a suit and a phony diamond scarf pin. An auto theft case linked to March 2% follows as Holmes claims a pleasure ride before the vehicle vanished. he says he parked it near Brewster and later its loss was observed by Manson.
