Wall Street Slumps Amid Rubber and Copper Backlash

Tuesday’s market opened strong but faded into a dull session with rubber and Atchison shares weak on long stock selling. Copper slid despite rising metal prices with rumors of large Calumet & Hecla copper sales and New York & New England reorganization talks shaping price moves.

Chauncy Hall School prize drill honors awarded

The Chauncy Hall School Battalion held its annual prize drill in Mechanics Building with over 1000 spectators. Major Thomas J. Robinson led the assembly drill. Adjutant Robert M. Tenney oversaw the competitive medal drill. Company B won the flag while sergeants Keys and Isburgh and private Porter earned school medals. Commissions were issued to Robinson Hodges Tenney and Mott-Smith with other officers promoted. An informal reception and dance followed.

Cape Ann trial trip hailed a success for Boston & Gloucester line

Officials received a Philadelphia telegram reporting the Cape Ann steamer's successful trial in all respects. It will sail from Philadelphia this morning to arrive Friday night and begin the route on Friday. The Sagamore steamer undergoes dry dock repairs after collision damage, with sixteen plates to be replaced on the port bow and four beneath the water line.

Wenham Burglars Caught After Alarm Warns Family

At 3 a m a burglary at J H Perkins store triggered alarms linked to his brother’s house. Officers McQueeny and Norcross chased two men, one of whom, Thomas Faulkner 24, surrendered after a warning shot. Faulkner held for Salem District Court grand jury with $1000 bail.

Gladstone’s Condition Remains Unchanged

London June 4 Mr Gladstone’s condition has not improved and he is likely to be confined to his bed for several days.
