The Hon Jamez Donovan called the Democratic City convention to order at 30 yesterday evening on motion of councilman Conry of Ward 2 Alderman.

In Roxbury last evening a fatal kitchen knife attack ended a long standing feud between William V. Ricker and his father in law John Cunniff. Ricker stabbed Cunniff to death after a melee including Ricker’s wife and her brother Peter Cunniff. Ricker was seized minutes later. his wife and brother in law were held as witnesses. Cunniff’s widow remains deceased. the family dispute stemmed from unpaid board and meals shared at Cunniff’s house on Brook Place and Clifton Street Auckland.
John Cunniff dies after a brutal encounter with Leo Ricker and Peter Cunniff in a Brook Place residence. Ricker flees to Dudley Street, is captured by Officer Haskins. Peter and Mrs. Cunniff arrested. Medical Examiner confirms cause of death.
Representatives from the Florida Athletic Club and Dallas syndicate confirm a pending bout between Corbett and Fitzsimmons to be staged in Dallas Texas on October 31 during the last week of the state fair. A $5000 stake is put up by Vendig with P J Dwyer as final stakeholder plus $5000 deposits from Corbett and awaiting Fitzsimmons. The purse totals $41000 and legal clearance is believed to exist.
A 12 year old girl, Hattie A. Stowell of 15 Sprague Street, was assaulted after being enticed into the Fitchburg railroad yards on Quincy Street Charlestown. She identified 84 year old Thomas C. Costello of Malden Almshouse as the suspected assailant. she is in critical condition.
Bernice Dale a 19 year old girl from Bowdoin Street tried to end her life with laudanum and morphine after a quarrel with Frank Johnson of Providence. Johnson returned home before 6:30 PM and found her. Doctors reported at midnight she would likely recover, though she said she did not want to live without him.
Suwan B. Anthony announces she will resign the NAWSA presidency at the upcoming convention in Rochester. She will continue her suffrage work, and Mrs. Carrieman Catt of New York City is likely to succeed her.
