Brickyard Fire Destroys Cambridge Plant Near Walden Street

A large fire at the New England Brick Company plant on Walden Street Cambridge caused about 29000 in damage. It started in the engine house at 1031 PM and quickly spread to drying sheds aided by a stiff breeze. Police controlled crowds as fire crews fought flames for 45 minutes before containment. The cause remains unknown.

Man with fractured skull admitted after two weeks drift

Mentally unbalanced man identified as Joseph Daley of East Boston arrived at City Hospital with a badly broken skull. He claimed to have fallen 40 feet from a schooner rigging on May 19 while at harbor. Doctors say prognosis is poor after delayed treatment.

Shot the bartender in a Columbia saloon attack

June 3 report from Lawrence states bartender Michael J Maher was seriously wounded at William P. Rae's saloon 141 Sussex Street. An Italian assailant, who fled, fired through a rear door after Maher refused service. Maher is in critical condition at General Hospital.

A major wildfire in Lynnfield consumed over 200 acres of timber owned by McCarthy of Brookline Keenan of Chelsea and Mansfield brothers of Lynnfield.
