The Prince of Wales at Tranby Croft Baccarat Trial
On the third day of the Tranby Croft baccarat scandal trial the courtroom crowd and fashion onlookers remained fixed as the Prince of Wales attended, greeted the judge, and sat as banker. Witnesses described alleged cheating by Sir William Gordon Cumming, including counters moved over a marked line and the prince paying out bets. The defense argued the plaintiff’s conduct was not honest, while cross-examination continued amid tension and a luncheon break with the prince in attendance.

How Baccarat Is Played In N Temes And Railroad Chemin de Fer
The Baccarat game is described in two forms. In casinos a central dealer distributes two cards to players left and right and to himself. A hand totals up to nine with rules for naturals and drawing. Ties favor the dealer and railroad play moves the deal around the table with five packs shuffled and stakes doubled as hands win.

Players cover large stakes by portions near the dealer
The player next to the dealer may take all or part of the stake, with the remainder passing to the second layer and so on. If the near dealer declines, the stake goes to the next player who covers any portion. When stakes are very large, several players commonly cover it by taking portions according to their inclinations.
