Freight Train Detained Over Smallpox Case in Maine

In Baco Maine June 2 authorities detained a Portland to Boston freight train after learning a Boston & Maine conductor’s wife had smallpox and the conductor himself had a mild case. The crew were vaccinated and returned to Portland. Kendall was moved to a contagious hospital. the car caboose was fumigated.

Arthur Pira a taxi driver testified in the dynamite conspiracy trial of William M Wood Fred E Atteaux and Dennis J Collins that he drove a man he believed to be Atteaux from President Wood s Fairfield street home to the same location and time John J Breen had said he met Mr Atteaux. Conflicting Testimonies Over Taxi Stop and Atteaux Breen Meeting

Man Dies After Stair Fall in Martimac Square

Maurice Houlihan 55 of 22 Walnut Street died after accidentally tripping and falling down stairs in Martimac square. He died at Sacred Heart Hospital from a skull fracture, authorities said.
