A Cairo dispatch reports England, Italy, and Russia have adhered to the Egyptian conversion plan. England and Italy will spend up to £150,000 each year to abolish the corveo, the forced labor system, as part of the agreement.
A Crete despatch reports Chakir Pasha leaves for Constantinople and Djevad Pasha takes temporary post. Petitions circulated seek a governor nearly independent of the Porte, revenue control by Crete, Assembly decisions needing governor sanction, restoration of native police, Turkish troop withdrawal, and tribunal reform.

The City Hall Commission adopted reduced plans and called for bids for a building ready for occupancy by December 1892. The revised plan includes a small pointed tower and an amendment adds a square tower as originally revised. Perspectives were to be exhibited alongside the original plans.
Geenfield June 2 Selectmen purchased from F J Pratt Jr for 3500 dollars several acres on Highland avenue for park and playground. If the town refuses to ratify the purchase the selectmen will retain the property.

Danbury Conn June 2 Four men seriously hurt and one probably fatally when a portion of the second story at Hull Rogers new block corner Main and Liberty streets gave way during masonry work. Three men John Wren Timothy Wren and Barnard Neary were buried beneath debris while William Wren, standing beneath, was struck by bricks and timber. All were removed to hospital. William Wren is internally injured and likely to die. the others are badly hurt but expected to recover.
Fire reports from Madison Connecticut Nashua New Haven Lewiston Worcester Hollis and Montreal detail two schooners burned at Tucker Barry shipyard New London owners insured loss 75000, a Nashua tenement fire, a Hollis saw mill fire loss 12000, a Franklin Avenue apartment fire injuring several people, and a St Jacques de l Achigan village fire destroying 28 houses with 100000 pounds losses. Additional minor blazes in West Winston Cambridge and Portland areas reported.
