The vetoed labor measure restricts employing women and minors in textile manufacturing between 6 PM and 6 AM. Penalties include a fine of 20 to 50 dollars per offense. The governor’s veto was read in the House and Samuel Ross urged postponement for clarity.
Bates and Rep Samuel Ross Senator Mac Innis and others supported the measure while learning the Governor intends to veto it. The veto message appears in full on Page 8. Debate likely as several Representatives push to pass the bill despite the Governor's objections.
W. J. Bryan heads Nebraska's Democratic delegation to the St Louis national convention. The state adopts a platform reaffirming the 1900 Kansas City planks and Bryan writes the platform. Delegation is unpledged, harmony marks the convention, with speeches by Bryan and Representative Charles W. Cochran.

Anadarko Oklahoma June 1 The Bryan wing of the Oklahoma Democracy dominated the convention to elect delegates to the St Louis convention and the 12 delegates were instructed to act with those who supported the party in the two last presidential elections. Hearst men yielded early and Parker men who opposed instructions were overwhelmingly defeated.
Burlington June 1. A mutilated soldier’s body was found in the rifle range at Fort Ethan Allen ending a string of three killings within three weeks. Officials withheld the victim’s name as General Corbin planned a forthcoming visit to launch a thorough investigation.
Dorchester police investigate a mangled female corpse found on the New York New Haven Hartford tracks near Crescent avenue station. About 30 years old, 5 feet 4 inches, brown hair blue eyes and distinctive dental features. Autopsy ruled not caused by liquor or drugs. a through freight train between 12:45 and 1:00 AM is suspected. No identification yet and efforts continue to locate claimants or relatives.
Jerry McCarthy of 176 Marion Street East Boston, vice commander of Major P. J. Grady Camp of Spanish War Veterans, was struck in the eye by a ball while playing at Wood Island Park yesterday afternoon. He received a fractured skull and was treated at the Relief Hospital in Haymarket Square.
