The Boston Post reports the Marion Holder accident in Roxbury involving Lieutenant-Commander Scribner. Police and witnesses describe the sequence, and many say Scribner acted cautiously and did all he could to aid after the fatal auto incident.
Platt, aged over 85, sues Hannah Elias and co deflndants alleging years of coercion and blackmail. He claims he gave Ms Elias valuables and real estate funds totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars under threat of exposure and force, with 34 trust companies and 95 banks named as co defendants. He details payments from 1896 to 1904 including 685000 and 16000 to secure a divorce and prevent suits, asserting a scheme to control and profit from him.
W N Osgood and John C Burke of Lowell defend Mr Scribner as trial approaches on June 20. The piece argues that parental custody might have prevented the girl’s death and notes Scribner’s careful driving. It cites an investigation finding the car moving under five mph and covering about 20 feet after impact.
Two five year old boys, Orion Betournay and Walter Perry, were buried alive by a sand bank collapse in Haverhill. They were missing at 1 o clock and a fresh cavern near the sand bank was located during searches. After extensive digging, their bodies were recovered. the medical examiner said they had been dead about three hours.
Body of a young woman about 30 was found on the Consolidated road tracks behind 175 Sidney Street Savin Hill at 2 AM. She showed signs of assault and had been pushed under a passing train causing fatal injuries. Police and Medical Examiner Draper will determine if murder.
