Springfield Man Identified in New York Acid Death Case

Springfield resident Hugh Allerton Sherman is identified as the man living in New York under the name Harry A. Scheib. The victim is Elizabeth O Grady daughter of Connor C O Grady and stepdaughter of Mrs O Grady of 37 Thomas Street. The couple traveled city to city on petty larceny acts evading police.

Elopers returned to Hillsboro under sheriff escort

Henry Bailey 35 and Grace M Snickles 17 were brought back to Hillsboro New Hampshire after being arrested here for alleged abduction. Bailey claimed they eloped believing he had a divorce and said he would wed Miss Snickles if not legally separated.

Panic at Fire in Gloucester Threatens City District

Fire destroyed a wharf and coal pockets at the Gloucester Gas Light plant and for an hour menaced the Andrew W. Dodd Oil Company. Explosions from machine oil and coal tar sent flames high and caused a crowd panic on Railway avenue as women and children were knocked down. At least a dozen youngsters were bruised. Sparks rained on roofs until a shower and rain saved the city roofs.
