Washington May 31 The War Department will assist to the extent of its power in alleviating suffering in flooded districts of the West. Orders have been given to Major General J C Bates commander of the Missouri Department with headquarters at Omaha Neb. The Leavenworth supply depot will provide tents if needed for shipment to flooded localities.
