New York Market Opens Weak Amid Rate Talks and News

The New York market opened weak as West news on rate cuts and frost unsettled traders. Western buying spurred by Northern Pacific and Union Pacific lifted the general list, with insiders buying West End Lands and Thomson Houston seen as likely electric motor supplier for the West End railway. A Chicago operator predicts an upward trend ahead, while rate cuts by the C B N are viewed as manageable. Gold shipments persist amid ample funds and low bill offers, with European demand a key factor.

Dangerous Use of Strong Purgatives Warned by Publisher

A medical warning explains that most purgatives and Bitter Waters irritate the bowels and can damage the stomach lining. It promotes Carlsbad Sprudel Salt as a soothing laxative and diuretic, noting genuine import and cautioning against imitations from Eisner & Mendelson Co. in New York.
