In Anderson county Kentucky Horace Mullen a farm hand visited Ed Bob and Porter Rawkins sisters home. After they ordered him to leave the country a confrontation occurred with guns drawn. Mullen killed Ed Hawkins and Bob Hawkins at the first volley. Porter Hawkins was wounded but survived.
A tornado swept DusugusE Iowa last evening with heavy rain. The storm toppled the top story of Albee's cold storage warehouse and a new brick store on West Waters. Trees, chimneys, and awnings were blown down, decorations for Gen Grant’s death were ripped away, timber flew in lumber yards, and piles from Standard Lumber and Knapp Stout were leveled. The storm lasted about 20 minutes.
Dover reports say a severe thunderstorm struck Jonathan Brown a 60 year old farmer on the Great Falls road knocking him insensible then paralyzing both legs. His hired man and a housewoman were also badly shocked while a telegraph line by the house lay prostrated and a dozen poles broken. Nearby cows in Barrington were killed or injured by lightning.
reports say a number of deficiencies were found in the books of the Manufacturers and Traders bank. Henry Conover, second assistant cashier, died suddenly and a bookkeeper fled to Canada after becoming a defaulter. Emerson also has shortages to be disclosed in a forthcoming report.

Mrs. Charlotte E. Baldwin, 75, sues for absolute divorce from husband Harry Baldwin, 22, in Birmingham yesterday. The couple wed last February in what was billed as a sensational marriage.
Yaunton Mass July 29 Thomas Green field eight years old was accidentally shot by a young man while others shot at birds near Hadding's pond. The ball entered the back and passed to the breast on a rib. Unless inflammation develops he will recover.
Bridgeport July 29 John Ebbs drug clerk arrested for manslaughter in the death of Mrs Kate Hackett after giving an overdose of morphine. He had a hearing today and was bound over to the superior court in 1560 dollars bond.
Hartford July 29 Dwight Wells a farmer near Wethersfield was struck by lightning during a thunder shower as he walked from his house to a shed. The bolt hit a tree and jumped to him in the mouth, killing him instantly.
A terrific wind and rain storm with lightning swept Minnesota, halting all telegraph lines between Chicago and Milwaukee since 3 o'clock. Damage and full extent of the circuit are not yet known.
Reports from all southwestern counties of the state indicate the wing crops are more advanced and in a better state than for years past. Corn oats grass and all fruits are reported especially fine.
