Joy ride crash injures seven in Waverley

A touring car crashed into a buggy on Mill Street Hill in Waverley injuring four men and three women. Superintendent W H Shaw and Mrs Shaw suffered head and arm injuries. Neil McCarthy the chauffeur fractured his left ankle. a bellboy and two women in the car were treated. C F Friedie the Belmont Spring Country Club chef had minor bruises.

Pulliam Fires Bullet in New York Suicide Attempt

Harry C. Pulliam president of the National League shot himself in the head at the New York Athletic Club. He was in ill health and had recently caused a stir at a Chicago meeting with strange conduct. The bullet entered the right temple and exited the left, destroying both eyes.

Mystery Call From Third Floor Resident

A man named Mr. Pulliam retired early with his room on the third floor. At about 9:30 p.m. a telephone call from his room rang through to the downstairs switchboard but produced no reply and the receiver appeared to be off the hook, prompting further inquiries.

Lamp Explosion Burns Shapiro Family Before Wedding

Everett police say a lamp exploded at 47 Woodville Street while a wedding was being prepared. Mrs Mary Shapiro 35 died from extensive burns. Julius Shapiro and a Shapiro sister suffered severe burns as blazing oil fell on clothing.
