Builders and owners lauded Cape Cod on builders star voyage

The steamer Cape Cod of the Bay Line, 165 feet long with 380 feet beam, made a builders star trip from Boston to Provincetown. 200 business men and others aboard witnessed race with the Gloucester steamer Cape Ann, reaching speeds of 15 to 17 knots. Builders Bertelson & Peterson praised the craft for speed and comfort while Captain Frank Shaw noted its ballast needs.

Father Knight Fined For Unlicensed Second Hand Trade in Chelsea

Theron A. Knight known as Father Knight appeared in Chelsea Police Court on a charge of doing a second hand business without a license. Judge Bossom found him guilty and fined $10, with Knight seeking time to raise the money. The well known shop owner previously ran a large second hand and pawn business on roadway Chelsea and now operates on Park Street. Officer Webber provided the case details and a woman testified against him.

Somerville Mayor Wins After Board Clash Over School Plans

Somerville's mayor wins as the Board of Aldermen clash over authorizing architect plans for a six room school at Patreet Ward. City officials, including City Solicitor Frank W. Kaan, back the mayor while opposing factions seek a competitive architect selection. The session also sees the unexpected resignation of City Treasurer F. Cola.
